Industry: Third Party Administration

ACA-Track Helps Group Benefit Services Achieve Greater Efficiencies for Clients

Group Benefit Services (GBS), headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, provides complete employee benefit consulting services, including the selection, design, and planning of benefit plans based on specific strategies. GBS also provides HR support, plan management, financial and compliance oversight, and vendor negotiation.

The Challenge

Prior to choosing an ACA solution, the tracking and streamlining of loading data for GBS and its clients was manual.
As a third-party administrator (TPA), GBS has evaluated a number of reporting and compliance tools. In 2016, the company narrowed its focus to search for a solution that would help its corporate clients—organizations with 50 or more employees—comply and report according to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). GBS used several online resources to identify a product that would be reliable, robust, and secure for its client base.

“Since we continue to grow our book of business, we needed to use ACA-Track™ in order to meet the demands of our clients,” McElroy said.  “No matter how you look at it, it’s still a great amount of work to complete in a short amount of time each year.”

The Solution

“From our evaluation, PSST’s ACA-Track™ was designed to address all the work required for data entry tracking as well as streamline the process by providing expert client account managers,” said Miles McElroy, GBS IT Director. “PSST provides the service and response time we appreciate at a higher level than other solutions, not to mention they have an all-around solid product.”
According to McElroy, the ability to automate notifications for members and individuals, and display the forms necessary online, has been important to GBS clients.  Avoiding the cumbersome printing and mailing of paperwork to client employees has been a big win.
“We have definitely noticed more interest in ACA-Track™ this year from our clients that have self-funded health insurance plans, including school districts,” McElroy said.

The Results

McElroy noted the significance of PSST’s ACA-Track™ in meeting deadlines and getting forms filed with little or no errors.
“Since we continue to grow our book of business, we needed to use ACA-Track™ in order to meet the demands of our clients,” McElroy said.  “No matter how you look at it, it’s still a great amount of work to complete in a short amount of time each year.”
McElroy also remarked on the feature that GBS clients prefer most—the snapshot tool. ACA-Track™ has structures to allow clients to input rules and generate codes so they can review all data and forms. The ACA-Track™ Client Data Launchpad (CDL) can manipulate data and is also extremely user-friendly, McElroy said.
He cited the immediate receipt of error notifications and the ability to make edits on the fly as being essential steps in improving accuracy in the required forms. ACA-Track™ CDL 3.0 has improved GBS’ data integrity and overall process flow. McElroy is confident these newfound efficiencies will allow GBS to maximize efforts going forward.
McElroy said GBS has been consistently impressed by what PSST can do with its ACA-Track™ product.

BONUS: Client Service

As for the client service provided by PSST, McElroy noted GBS has always been satisfied with the level of care they are provided.
“PSST has good tools, good people, and the systems work properly from setup to deadline,” McElroy said. “They’ve got everything working right.”
The partnership is mutually beneficial, he added, and clients have had no issue with implementations.
“It’s easy to keep renewing and using this product,” McElroy said.
